BTS, Post Malone, 24kGoldn And Luke Combs: 5 Important Moves On This Week’s Hot 100

For the first time in history, a musical act from South Korea dominates the Hot 100. BTS make history this week as they start their latest effort atop the chart, and not far behind them, several tunes bolt into the top 20 and the top 40, and the next few top 10 smashes may already have been identified.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart.

No. 1 – BTS – “Dynamite”

After years of quickly rising the ranks and lifting higher and higher on the Hot 100 with each new single released, BTS has finally pushed all the way to the No. 1 spot on the all-encompassing songs ranking in the U.S. The septet’s new smash “Dynamite” debuts atop the list, making them the first South Korean group to rule the chart.

No. 12 – 24kGoldn – “Mood (ft. Iann Dior)”

24kGoldn and Iann Dior, two newcomers just starting to make names for themselves, look like they’re about to break into the top 10 on the Hot 100 any day now with their fast-rising tune “Mood.” The cut leaps up the ranking once again this frame, pushing from No. 26 to No. 12, and at the rate it continues to gain ground, it will likely improve once again when the list refreshes soon.

No. 16 – Post Malone – “Circles”

Several years ago, Billboard established a rule that kicks songs off the chart after a certain number of weeks unless they ranked above a certain position. Now, tunes are removed from the tally regularly, but one has held on, reaching a milestone very few cuts manage these days. Post Malone’s “Circles” is still going strong at No. 16 as it celebrates a full year on the roster, which is a rare sight.

No. 30 – Luke Combs – “Lovin’ on You”

Country superstar Luke Combs is back inside the top 40 on the Hot 100 once again with “Lovin’ on You,” the latest single from his sophomore album What You See Is What You Get. The tune advances from No. 53 to No. 30, giving the musician his ninth placement inside the arena (and his fourth from his latest full-length).

No. 34 – JP Saxe – “If the World Was Ending (ft. Julia Michaels)”

After 22 weeks on the Hot 100, JP Saxe and Julia Michaels’ “If the World Was Ending” finally breaks into the top 40, which it has come close to doing many times. The track marks the first appearance inside the competitive tier for Saxe and just the second for Michaels (and her first in three years).
