Last week’s broadcast of AEW Dynamite garnered 850,000 viewers compared to 638,000 for WWE NXT.

Hangman Adam Page def. John Silver

When John Silver countered Hangman Adam Page’s finish, I almost begun to think Page might lose this match.

This match was designed to establish the unequivocal fact that John Silver will be a real player in AEW if he isn’t already.

How many times will The Dark Order ask Hangman Adam Page to join before simply taking no for an answer.

Powerhouse Hobbs def. Local Competitor; Taz Chokes Out Cody Rhodes

“Powerhouse” Will Hobbs in Taz’s gear was perfect.

Powerhouse Hobbs is such a WWE nickname.

Taz was the clear heel in this segment, but Cody wasn’t exactly a knight in shining armor as a representative of management.

By the end of this segment, where Cody took a personal dig at Taz about his son, Taz attacking Cody—with the Tazmission no less—seemed more like a babyface move than a cheap shot.

The big potential story coming out of this angle is Taz seems to be setting up for a comeback match.

Angelico and Jack Evans def. Top Flight

This was a pleasantly surprising showcase of Top Flight’s mat wrestling skills.

Of the endless comparisons Top Flight has to The Young Bucks, they too like to wrestle in identical ring gear.

Top Flight looks to be in the lovable loser role for quite some time, which is perfect for them considering the dangers of them being perceived as “Teacher’s Pets” of The Young Bucks.

Chris Jericho and Jake Hager vs. SCU

I’ve never watched Frankie Kazarian compete and not thought that AEW should do more with him.

MJF sold a punch to the face like he was hit with a tire iron.

Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega Contract Signing

Kenny Omega is getting a lot of mileage out of being inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame.

Very rarely do you see a contract signing where one guy gets taken out before the signing yet the segment continues.

Hikaru Shida vs. Anna Jay—AEW Women’s World Championship

Pre-Match Thoughts: Anna Jay has no shot at winning this match whatsoever.

The Dark Order really needs to practice its referee-distracting techniques because standing on the stage for moral support is not helping anybody on their roster.

Right on cue, Anna Jay was able to illegally use a kendo stick due to a referee distraction. Ultimately, she still lost.

After Abadon licked the AEW Women’s World Championship, Hikaru Shida might as well just let her have it due to COVID.

The Butcher and The Blade def. Pac and Rey Fennix

Pac was a very reluctant babyface throughout this match.

Based on his last two weeks alone, I would have never guessed Pac has been off for months.

Penta El Cero M really dropped the ball in stopping Eddie Kingston from interfering in this match.

Lance Archer has had issues with Eddie Kingston for months, but this week that meant a babyface turn out of nowhere for Archer.
