‘Friends’ Stars Raffle Off Tickets To HBO Max Reunion Special For Charity

The cast of “Friends” are doing their part to raise money for charities that provide food for those in need during the coronavirus pandemic by raffling off a set of six tickets to a taping of their HBO Max reunion special once it is safe to film again, the actors announced Tuesday.

KEY FACTS

The “Friends” package will include a ticket to the reunion taping for one winner and five of their friends, as well as a cup of coffee for each ticket holder with the ‘Friends’ cast at the Central Perk set on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, plus airfare and a hotel stay.

The “Friends” actors are the latest stars to take part in the All In Challenge that has seen celebrities take part in offering up items and experiences to be bid on—the auctions include a chance to run a lemonade stand with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and a walk-on role in a Martin Scorcese film starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

A date for the experience has not been finalized, according to the contest; the HBO Max reunion was meant to be recorded in late March, but was one of the many Hollywood productions forced to suspend during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the contest fine print, if the taping were to do away with a live studio audience “due to [Centers for Disease Control] limitations,” a different in-person experience with the cast will be provided.

100% of the money raised will go to food charities like Feeding America, Meals On Wheels, World Central Kitchen and No Kid Hungry, according to the All In Challenge.

KEY BACKGROUND

The contest was announced on the social media channels of “Friends”  stars the same day parent company WarnerMedia announced that the HBO Max streaming service would launch in late May. According to a press release, all episodes of the “Friends” series will be available to stream on the service from the start, while the reunion special was one of the Max Original titles that WarnerMedia said could be expected to “continue to premiere on the streamer at a regular cadence through summer and fall.” Other hits that will be available immediately on HBO Max include “Euophoria,” “Big Little Lies,” “Game of Thrones,” “Sex and the City,” “The Wire,” and “The Sopranos.”
