Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards Will Go Virtual With New Host Victoria Justice

Nickelodeon’s annual Kids’ Choice Awards will be virtual this year, making it the first awards show to be produced remotely during the coronavirus pandemic.

The awards will be reworked into a virtual celebrity-packed show hosted by actress Victoria Justice, who starred in the network’s popular series Victorious and Zoey 101. The newly-titled Kids Choice Awards 2020: Celebrate Together will air Saturday, May 2, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Award winners will be revealed “through some of the most creative orange-blimp acceptances in KCA history,” the show’s organizers said. There will also be a segment starring pop star JoJo Siwa and a performance from artist and actor Asher Angel.

Celebrities slated to virtually appear include Avengers: Endgame members Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner, as well as Ariana Grande, Kristen Bell, Camila Cabello, Millie Bobby Brown, Ellen DeGeneres, BTS, Shawn Mendes, Lil Nas X, and more.

Originally scheduled for March 22 with Chance The Rapper as host, the award how was postponed due to concerns related to the coronavirus crisis. The delay echoed similar decisions made by other award celebrations, including the Billboard Music Awards, Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, The Tony Awards, and others.

Nickelodeon also announced that during the show, it will present a $1 million donation to No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit that works to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the U.S. and around the world, to support those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
