BTS’s ‘Map Of The Soul: 7’ Is Now The Second-Longest-Charting Album By A Korean Act In U.K. History

As their new single “Dynamite” debuts at No. 3 on the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.K. this frame (giving the band their first appearance inside the top 10), one of BTS’s most recent full-lengths returns to its respective list for another spell. By reappearing, the set moves up on an important all-time ranking once more, helping the septet make history in one more fashion.

BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7 is back on the U.K. albums ranking this frame, reappearing at No. 97 due to a surge in streams and purchases by fans in the nation. That’s a very low position for one of the most successful full-lengths in the world this year, but this frame is special nonetheless.

Map of the Soul: 7 has now spent 14 nonconsecutive frames on the U.K. albums ranking, which stands as one of the most impressive counts when looking at projects released by South Korean musicians. In fact, the set now stands as the second-longest-charting release among all efforts by artists from that country, and at this point, BTS is only competing with themselves.

Before returning to the list of the most popular full-lengths in the U.K., Map of the Soul: 7 was tied with another BTS album, Love Yourself: Answer, for the second-most turns on the tally. Now, the latter release has been pushed down to third place on this specific roster, while the former LP now stands alone in second.

Leading the way among all releases by Korean acts on the ranking of the titles that have spent the most weeks on the chart is BTS’s Map of the Soul: Persona, which racked up 19 frames before disappearing for good. So far, no other effort by a musician from the Asian country has come even close to challenging that set for this spot in the history books.

Map of the Soul: 7 debuted at No. 1 this past spring on the U.K. albums chart, becoming BTS’s second consecutive champion on the tally. They first hit the summit in 2019 with Map of the Soul: Persona.
