5 Players Who Could Leave Juventus As Part Of Maurizio Sarri’s Summer Shake-Up

Serie A may be in temporary shutdown, but transfer news continues and there could be several players departing the Allianz Stadium in the near future.

It is only 11 weeks until the summer transfer window opens and the Old Lady will be quietly planning ahead, whatever the outcome over the current season.

Juve sources are remaining tight-lipped over the potential of incomings, especially due to the fact the club are looking to win their ninth successive scudetto.

However, these final few weeks could be the end for some of Sarri’s current crop. Here are five players who could leave the Serie A champions.

Marko Pjaca

The 24-year-old joined Juve from Dynamo Zagreb for  $25.4million in 2016, but has failed to hit the ground running at the Allianz Stadium since his arrival from his homeland.

Pjaca suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January 2018 and has spent time away from the club on a string of loans at Schalke and Fiorentina.

The Croatian is currently spending the rest of the campaign on-loan in Belgium with Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht, who are expected to make his temporary switch permanent at the end of the current campaign. Pjaca, a 2018 World Cup finalist with Croatia, has made just 14 appearances in his four years with the Old Lady.

Miralem Pjanić

Pjanić could be sold following a huge dip in form of late, with a number of clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United expressing their interest in the 29-year-old.

Before the suspension of Serie A, the Bosnian international was dropped from starting line-up in the 2-0 win over Inter Milan last weekend in favour of Aaron Ramsey.

The experienced midfielder, who has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A leaders this season, has been a key member of the Juve squad, having joined from Roma in the summer of 2016.

His lacklustre performances of late have meant the club are considering offers for him. He is contracted to the Old Lady until 2023, and Maurizio Sarri will no doubt be keen to replace him should he move on.

Gonzalo Higuaín

With Juventus keen to recruit a new striker this summer, Higuaín will most likely fall down the pecking order.

The 32-year-old returned to Turin last summer after Chelsea decided against signing him on a permanent basis. Having been reunited with Sarri, who he played under at both Napoli and Chelsea, the Argentina international has made 23 appearances this season, netting on five occasions.

Juve’s hierarchy are keen to get his $6.8million-per-year wages off the club’s books and have identified a number of replacements including Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauro Icardi, Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City and Timo Werner of RB Leipzig, respectively.

Merih Demiral

Demiral was a key part of Sarri’s plans before picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The Turkey international scored the opening goal as Juve defeated Roma 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico back in January before he became sidelined.

The 22-year-old, who joined from Sassuolo in 2019 for $20million, pushed Matthijs de Ligt out of the starting XI, the 20-year-old costing $82.9million from Ajax last summer. Demiral was a key performer in the Juve backline alerting a number of clubs.

Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester City all seen a $54million bid rejected for the center-back prior to his injury and could well be back in for his services this summer.

Aaron Ramsey

Having endured a difficult time in Turin thus far, Juventus are considering selling the experienced Welshman. Ramsey, 29, joined the Serie A champions on a free transfer last year after an 11-year spell in north London.

Juve would most likely make a profit should they offload him at the end of the campaign, with Manchester United keen. There is a glimmer of hope for Ramsey however, given the fact he impressed in the Old Lady’s 2-0 victory over Inter Milan last week.

Ramsey could well be keen on a move back to the Premier League, but he simply has a lot more to offer at the Italian champions and could well be given a lifeline by Sarri.
