ABBA, Bill Withers And 5 Seconds Of Summer: 5 Releases Making Waves On The U.K. Albums Chart

5 Seconds of Summer falls, Dua Lipa rises, the late Bill Withers returns and both ABBA and newcomer Becky Hill prove that they are more popular than anybody anticipated with their successful releases in the United Kingdom this frame.

Here are five titles that make waves on this week’s U.K. albums chart.

No. 10 – Bill Withers – The Ultimate Collection

Now that a tracking period has passed since Bill Withers died, the musician’s work is back on the U.K. charts, and he occupies more than one spot on both the singles and albums rankings this frame. On the latter, his The Ultimate Collection compilation returns to its No. 10 peak, while his Live at Carnegie Hall recording debuts at No. 80.

No. 11 – Ed Sheeran – ÷ (Divide)

Ed Sheeran’s incredibly successful album Divide has already spent over three years on the U.K. albums tally, but it’s performing better this frame than it has since last fall, when it fell out of the top 10 once again. Due in part to a lack of big releases, Divide almost returned to the top 10, missing the mark by just one rung.

Divide is being powered in part by the unstoppable single “Perfect,” which is still present on the songs chart at No. 50 in its one hundred and twenty first week on the list.

No. 17 – 5 Seconds of Summer – Calm

Last week, 5 Seconds of Summer claimed the highest spot on the U.K. albums ranking with their new album Calm, but the title doesn’t fare very well in its second stint on the tally. The project falls from No. 1 to No. 17, a very steep decline for one frame.

No. 20 – Becky Hill – Get to Know

Pop singer Becky Hill has made a name for herself throughout the past several years in the U.K. with a run of several top 40 hits, and she compiled five of them onto the tracklist of her first album Get to Know, which debuted on the chart last year. Since then, it has climbed and fallen, but recently the set has been gaining ground, and this week, it’s twenty-eighth on the list, it has finally entered the top 20 for the first time.

No. 27 – ABBA – Gold – Greatest Hits

No matter how many copies of ABBA’s Gold – Greatest Hits sell in the U.K., the British public just can’t seem to get enough. The compilation is still living inside the top 40 as it hits 18 years on the chart. The title, which has spent 936 frames on the tally, is the most successful release in the country’s history, and it’s not about to disappear anytime soon.
