Alessandro Del Piero Believes Maurizio Sarri Is The Perfect Fit At Juventus And Speaks Out On Paulo Dybala

Former Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero has suggested Maurizio Sarri needs more time to put his stamp on Juventus, and also claims Paulo Dybala is “perfect uniting midfield and attack.”

The 45-year-old, who made 706 appearances for the Serie A champions during his time in Turin netted 290 goals in all competitions and produced 79 assists.

The Old Lady remain one point ahead of second-place Lazio in the table when Serie A was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“Sarri created such beautiful ideas of football at Empoli and Napoli, but those took time to achieve, with daily training sessions and constant communication,” Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia.

“Juve don’t have that kind of time, because they play so many games, therefore a coach can require over a year to get his ideas drilled into the team.

“We haven’t seen much beautiful football in Sarri’s Juve, but there was a bit, so I think they are on the right track. After all, they are still top of Serie A and in with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals.”

Following Sarri’s tactical decision of change of formation from 4-3-1-2 to 4-3-3, questions have been raised over the position of Dybala.

“I think playing just off the centre-forward is the best position for Dybala, because he can assist, dribble and score goals,” continued Del Piero.

“He has to be near to the goal, but I don’t quite see him as a centre-forward, even if he can open up spaces for teammates. I believe he’s perfect uniting the midfield with the attack.”

Del Piero, who is currently living in Los Angeles, explained how the United States are dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are experiencing now what Italy had two or three weeks ago. There isn’t currently any clear advice on what to do, so people are panic-buying in the supermarkets.

“We Italians followed what was happening back home and are therefore more prepared. America will not be immune from the coronavirus.”

The Italy 2006 World Cup-winning squad have created a fund-raising page for the Red Cross during the pandemic which is affecting people globally.

Del Piero posted on Instagram: “I, together with other 2006 World Cup companions, take the field again with a new challenge. A fundraiser to be allocated to the @crocerossaitaliana to help our country in an emergency to Coronavirus. You are part of our team too: United, we will again,” he said on his Instagram profile.
