Brooklyn Nets To Sign Veteran Free Agent Guard Iman Shumpert: Report

The Brooklyn Nets are finalizing a deal to sign veteran free agent guard Iman Shumpert, according to The Athletic.

The 6-foot-6 Shumpert is the latest addition aimed at improving one of the worst defenses in the NBA. The Nets also signed 6-foot-11 shot-blocking big man Norvel Pelle, who is expected to join the team Sunday in Washington.

Shumpert, 30 won an NBA championship alongside LeBron James and current Nets guard Kyrie Irving with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. Joe Harris and Jeff Green were also teammates in Cleveland. He last played for the Nets in 2019.

He played for current Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni, then the Rockets head coach, and alongside James Harden in Houston in 2019. He also played alongside Nets assistant Amar’e Stoudemire during his Knicks tenure from 2011-15.

The Georgia Tech product has career averages of 7.2 points and 3.3 rebounds.
