Cardi B, Khalid And Joe Diffie: 5 Big Moves On This Week’s Billboard 200

Country legend Joe Diffie’s name appears higher on the Billboard 200 this week than ever before, but sadly it is because he is no longer with us and his legion of listeners wanted to press play on his biggest hits to remember him. Behind the Grammy winner, those who made their name in R&B, rap and standards all enjoy hitting important marks with popular releases that keep selling and streaming well week after week.

Here are five albums that made big moves on the Billboard 200 chart this week.

No. 2 – 5 Seconds of Summer – Calm

Up until this week, every album 5 Seconds of Summer ever released went right to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, but they missed the top spot this frame, and not by much. The Australian pop group’s latest effort Calm only landed behind The Weeknd’s After Hours by a few thousand units, and that’s because around 10,000 copies were accidentally shipped early, meaning the new set doesn’t debut at No. 2, but rather lifts to that spot.

No. 38 – Joe Diffie – 16 Biggest Hits

A little over a week ago, country music favorite Joe Diffie passed away at the age of 61 due to complications to coronavirus, making him one of a thankfully small group of artists who have succumbed to the new illness. Fans rushed to buy and stream his compilation 16 Biggest Hits, which debuts on the Billboard 200 this frame at No. 38. That placement makes it Diffie’s highest-ranking title and his only top 40.

No. 60 – Khalid – Free Spirit

R&B superstar Khalid has only released two albums in his still-short career, and both have now spent at least one full year on the Billboard 200. Sophomore effort Free Spirit reaches the mark this frame, while his debut project American Teen has now lived on the list for 161 turns.

No. 96 – Cardi B – Invasion of Privacy

Fans have been waiting patiently for Cardi B to release a new album for some time, and while she has been doling out singles from the forthcoming project for well over a year, there is still no word on when it might arrive. As listeners continue to hold on for something they haven’t heard before, the rapper’s debut album Invasion of Privacy celebrates two years on the Billboard 200.

No. 187 – Frank Sinatra – Ultimate Sinatra

The ultimate crooner’s ultimate compilation, the obviously-titled Ultimate Sinatra, is still going strong on the Billboard 200, though it looks like it might dip off the chart sometime soon. The effort, one of many greatest hits collections from the singer, has now occupied space on the chart for 104 weeks, or exactly two years.
