‘CoComelon’ Just Accomplished Something That No Other Show Has Ever Done On Netflix

Earlier this year, Netflix
NFLX
introduced its Top 10 feature, which ranks the most popular movies and shows on the streaming platform each new day—which has been a huge turning point in how we observe streaming data, as those Top 10 charts became our first (and possibly only) true daily insight into what content is controlling the entertainment arena.

And today, a children’s program went where no other movie or show on Netflix has ever gone before. CoComelon—the hit YouTube series that transferred over to Netflix earlier this year—just saw its 62nd consecutive day on the Daily Top 10 charts. And with that milestone, the sing-a-long spectacle sits alone with the longest streak recorded since the Top 10 list was introduced.

CoComelon—which has arguably been the most viral show on Netflix for two months now—passed Avatar: The Last Airbender to become #1. Between May 18 and July 17, Avatar sat on the Top 10 charts—that amounted to 61 consecutive days. But CoComelon topped that streak this morning as it finished in seventh place on the daily list.

Here are the current ten longest Top 10 streaks for shows on Netflix:

  1. CoComelon – 62 days
  2. Avatar: The Last Airbender – 61 days
  3. Ozark – 57 days
  4. Outer Banks – 51 days
  5. Tiger King – 50 days
  6. The Umbrella Academy – 43 days
  7. All American – 42 days
  8. Cobra Kai – 42 days
  9. Love is Blind – 39 days
  10. Space Force – 34 days

As you can see, there’s a pretty big difference between the top and bottom of that list. Not even Tiger King—which is currently the most popular show on Netflix this year—could remain one of the ten most popular shows on Netflix as long as CoComelon has been able to. So while shows like Tiger King and Outer Banks and The Umbrella Academy reached higher highs on the Netflix charts, CoComelon has shown the power of maintaining a stronghold over your targeted demographic.

CoComelon debuted on the Top 10 charts back on August 27. Since then, the show has never risen above the #4 position on the daily list, but has also never fallen below the #9 position.

That performance allowed CoComelon—a YouTube program that currently has 92 million subscribers and 78 billion lifetime views—to finish in third place on the September Top 10 list. And this month, it appears that CoComelon will finish in fourth place behind Emily in Paris, Schitt’s Creek and The Haunting of Bly Manor.

As of today, CoComelon ranks as the sixth-most-popular show on Netflix this year. The children’s program is only three points behind The Umbrella Academy (read more about my Netflix points-ranking system here), and could very well catch Tiger King by the end of 2020 if this hot streak continues and become Netflix’s most popular show.
