Demi Lovato, Morgan Wallen And YoungBoy Never Broke Again: 5 Important Moves On This Week’s Hot 100

The top 10 on this week’s Hot 100 looks very similar to the same area on last frame’s list, as the seven highest rungs don’t see any movement, and no new cuts enter the area below that. While there may not be much happening between Nos. 1 and 10, one hip-hop star takes over the lower half of the tally while several country musicians make big moves on the most important songs ranking in the U.S. this turn.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart.

No. 19 – Lee Brice – “One of Them Girls”

Country music favorite Lee Brice hits a new career high on this week’s Hot 100 with his latest smash “One of Them Girls,” which pushes into the top 20 for the first time, advancing to No. 19. The tune previews his forthcoming fifth full-length Hey World, which is expected this fall.

No. 35 – YoungBoy Never Broke Again – “My Window (ft. Lil Wayne)”

As YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s new album Top opens at No. 1 on the Billboard 200—giving the hip-hop talent his third leader on the tally in just the past 12 months—nine songs featured on the set appear on the Hot 100, with most debuting on the chart. Leading the charge among the bunch is “My Window,” which features Lil Wayne, which opens at No. 35.

Behind that sole top 40 win come “Drug Addiction” (No. 44), “Kacey Talk” (No. 50), “All In” (No. 67), “Dead Trollz” (No. 72), “Cross Roads” (No. 76), “The Last Backyard…” (No. 81), “Right Foot Deep” (No. 88) and “Dirty Stick” (No. 98).

YoungBoy Never Broke Again has now sent 47 songs to the Hot 100 throughout his career.

No. 36 – Marshmello & Demi Lovato – “OK Not to Be OK”

Marshmello and Demi Lovato teamed up for their new joint single “OK Not to Be OK,” an empowering and catchy anthem that many people could use during this tough time. The track sneaks into the top 40, debuting at No. 36, giving both acts another win on the tally.

Marshmello has now reached the important region with a dozen singles, while Lovato has pushed at least 18 tunes into the area.

No. 39 – Morgan Wallen – “More Than My Hometown”

Just a few weeks ago, Morgan Wallen scored his first top 10 hit on the Hot 100 with “7 Summers,” which impressively debuted inside the loftiest tier. Now, his previous release “More Than My Hometown” continues its forward surge, entering the top 40 for the first time. The cut is his fifth top 40 on the ranking.

Both “7 Summers” and “More Than My Hometown” are assumed to be the first two singles from Wallen’s forthcoming sophomore album, which doesn’t yet have a title or release date.

No. 65 – Andrew Jannakos – “Gone Too Soon”

Country music fans first noticed Andrew Jannakos last year when he auditioned for The Voice, and though he didn’t go very far on the show, it was the beginning of something special for the musician. Earlier this summer, he previewed his forthcoming single “Gone Too Soon” on TikTok, and in no time, the smash went viral. Now that it’s been released properly, the cut opens at No. 65, becoming Jannakos’ first placement on the Hot 100.

“Gone Too Soon” arrives as high as it does thanks in large part to very strong sales, as it was purchased by more than 28,000 people. It lands at No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales ranking, behind only BTS’s unstoppable “Dynamite.”
