Drake, Lil Durk And Morgan Wallen Chart New Top 10 Hits Behind Cardi B And Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘WAP’

After debuting at No. 1 last frame with the largest single-week sales and streaming sums of 2020, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion keep their undeniable smash “WAP” at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for a second frame. The track fends off some pretty tough competition from perhaps the biggest name in hip-hop, and it proves it is not just a quick hit that will disappear from the highest reaches of the chart in short order.

Hip-hop powerhouses Drake and Lil Durk debut their new single “Laugh Now, Cry Later” at No. 2 on this week’s Hot 100, missing out on the top spot only because “WAP” remains too popular to beat.

“Laugh Now, Cry Later” likely serves as the first single off of Drake’s forthcoming album Certified Lover Boy, which is expected very soon, perhaps even before the summer is through. The cut extends Drake’s record for the most top 10 hits of all time to 41, while Durk earns not only his first top 10 smash, but his first appearance inside the top 40.

Two former chart-toppers come next, with DaBaby and Roddy Ricch’s “Rockstar” and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” landing at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Those two previous No. 1 smashes push Jack Harlow, DaBaby, Lil Wayne and Tory Lanez’s “What’s Poppin” down to No. 5.

New at No. 6 is Morgan Wallen’s “7 Summers,” which debuts inside the top 10, a rare sight among country musicians. The track marks the first placement inside the area for Wallen, who has previously climbed as high as No. 16 on the Hot 100 with last year’s “Chasin’ You.”

“7 Summers” appears to be the second single from Wallen’s as-yet-untitled sophomore album, though the country talent hasn’t yet revealed his plan for the next era of his career.

Recent No. 1 hit “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles continues its downward spiral, falling to No. 7. Just two weeks ago, it was in charge of the Hot 100.

Saint Jhn’s “Roses” makes a home at No. 8 this frame while Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685’s “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” is down at No. 9.

The third and last new entrant inside this week’s top 10 comes from country singer-songwriter and former American Idol contestant Gabby Barrett, who sends her debut single “I Hope” into the highest region on the Hot 100 after months of pushing it up the tally. The tune, which previewed her debut album Goldmine, advances from No. 11 to No. 10 this time around.
