Gareth Bale Hints At Move Away From Real Madrid To MLS

If there’s one current world class footballer who can consider himself harshly treated, it would be Gareth Bale at Real Madrid.

Under Zinedine Zidane, particularly in the Frenchman’s second spell at the club, the flying winger has barely been given a look in as far as a starting place is concerned, and as one of the highest paid players in the team, Zidane’s stance makes little sense.

At the time of writing, no one has still been able to get to the bottom of just why it is that the coach won’t play an attacker who will give them something extra. Something different.

When Los Blancos have been looking devoid of ideas in certain games, Bale’s presence would’ve given the team a much-needed shot in the arm at the very least, but a blanket refusal to give him anything more than cursory minutes on the pitch appears to still be the order of the day.

On the verge of moving to China in a deal which would’ve seen Bale become the first footballer in the world to earn €1m per week, Real’s president, Florentino Perez, decided that for some reason, he did want to keep the Welshman after all.

To that end, the expectation that that Bale would go on to play a fuller part wasn’t without foundation, but Zidane continued to dig his heels in.

Now it seems that the player might finally be ready to push through a move elsewhere, with Major League Soccer seemingly becoming a much more viable option.

“I like it. It’s a league on the rise and continues to grow,” Bale said on The Hat Trick podcast with Charles Stillitano, Executive Chairman of the International Champions Cup.

“Many players want to come to the MLS right now, it is definitely something that would interest me.

“I love going to LA on vacation. I play a lot of golf when I’m there.”

A fairly unequivocal statement, and one could infer from his words that a move might happen sooner rather than later.

Given how poorly Real Madrid have performed in a number of games this season, it does seem rather foolish on Zidane’s part to continue to leave Bale as an outcast.

Centre-forward, Karim Benzema, thrives on the service from the wide man, and that’s just one example as to why he is needed in the Spanish capital.

Now that Bale has registered his interest in a move to the other side of the pond, it’s a fairly safe bet that there will be huge interest, from a marketing point of view as much as a footballing one.

New boys on the block, Inter Miami, would almost certainly try and secure Bale as one of their first marquee signings, as David Beckham goes looking to make another footprint on the organisation he gave a huge boost to when signing for the LA Galaxy.

Perhaps the Galaxy themselves, or LAFC will be in with a chance, given the player’s stated penchant for a bit of golfing action in that neck of the woods.

All that remains now is for Real to cut their losses and allow Bale to do what he does best again.
