‘Justice League’ Star Ray Fisher Says WarnerMedia Probing Charges Of Mistreatment On Set

TOPLINE

Justice League star Ray Fisher tweeted Thursday that WarnerMedia has launched an independent investigation into the “toxic and abusive work environment” allegations he has made about his experience filming reshoots for the DC Comics movie.

KEY FACTS

WarnerMedia started the independent investigation after five weeks of interviews with cast and crew members, according to Fisher, who called it a “massive” step forward.

Fisher, who played Cyborg, said he believes the investigation will show director Joss Whedon, producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg and unnamed others “grossly abused their power during the uncertainty of AT&T’s merger with Time Warner.”

Last week, Fisher claimed Johns “summoned” him to his office to “belittle and admonish” him and his agent for reporting the allegations and said Johns made a “thinly veiled threat” to his career.

On July 1, Fisher tweeted that Whedon’s on-set treatment of the movie’s cast and crew was “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable” and said his behavior was enabled by Johns and Berg.

Berg previously denied accusations that he and Johns enabled unprofessional behavior; WarnerMedia and Fisher’s management team did not immediately respond to Forbes’ request for comment.

Despite featuring major characters Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Lois Lane and The Flash and a host of big-name actors, Justice League fell short at the box office when it debuted in 2017 and received lackluster reviews from fans and critics.

further background

Whedon took over directing duties after Zack Snyder stepped away because of a personal tragedy. Whedon, who previously directed Marvel Studios’ The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, handled reshoots. After fans called for Warner Bro. to release Snyder’s cut of the movie, Snyder announced his version of the film will air on HBO Max on August 22.
