Kayla Braxton Quits Twitter As 2nd Positive COVID-19 Test Incites Cyberbullying

WWE announcer Kayla Braxton has deleted her Twitter account amid intense criticism from fans on social media after she confirmed she had tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time. She had previously tweeted that she is taking a social media break.

Braxton became one of several WWE employees to test positive for the disease amid a spike in cases within the state of Florida. WWE announcer Renee Young and producer Adam Pearce are among those who have come forward to confirm they tested positive.

Braxton’s unique situation—of her testing positive twice—has led to far less sympathy and more vitriol from a select group of fans. Despite Braxton using herself as a cautionary tale, even advising fans “don’t be dumb like me,” many are now condemning Braxton for not taking more caution knowing she had previously contracted the disease.

Braxton’s full tweet read:

“Was keeping it quiet but since everyone else is sharing, I feel like it is my responsibility to share this PSA: YOU CAN GET COVID-19 MORE THAN ONCE! I had it back in early March and then thought I was invincible after I recovered. Not true. Dont be dumb like me. [sic]”

WWE has issued a statement regarding its sudden rise of cases and subsequent testing procedures.

“WWE will continue COVID-19 testing of its talent, production crew and employees in advance of TV productions for the foreseeable future.”

As cases continue to grow, both national promotions, in WWE and AEW, have been affected. Renee Young is married to AEW world champion Jon Moxley, who was pulled from AEW Dynamite due to being in contact with Young. AEW wrestler QT Marshall was also nixed from the show due to COVID-19 concerns.

The fact that Kayla Braxton felt compelled to quit social media is disappointing on its own merits, however it’s especially disheartening in light of the recent events pertaining to late Stardom athlete Hana Kimura.
