KCON:TACT 2020 Fall Announces Details For Virtual K-Pop Festival

After nearly five million viewers tuned into the first-ever digital iteration of K-pop festival KCON known as KCON:TACT, the virtual fan fest will return for a run this fall.

KCON announced KCON:TACT 2020 Fall coming in October growing to a 10-day celebration of all things Korean-pop culture. Like the inaugural KCON:TACT, the upcoming festival will feature live concerts and meet-and-greets with round-the-clock content coming from artists and influencers in the space. KCOn promises to use a mix of “augmented reality, mixed reality, and eXpanded reality technology to push the limits of what is possible with virtual entertainment and strengthen the ways fans at home can participate in the show as a live audience.”

“This year has been an amazing opportunity for us to accelerate our experimentation with the latest technology,” said KCON’s co-host company CJ ENM. “While we can’t be together at our in-person events, we are so proud that we have created a virtual world where fans can get a piece of that amazing artist interaction they have come to expect from KCON.”

In addition to their expanded time table, KCON:TACT promises more fan-to-aritst interaction, more live events and programs for KCON:TACT Fall—an impressive promise after bringing 32 artists for seven days of 24-hour content on its first fun.

KCON has also shard that the initially postponed KCON date in Los Angeles has been canceled for the first time since its premiered in 2012. KCON:TACT acts as a replacement to the fest that has expanded for dates in New York, Mexico City, Bangkok, Sydney, Paris and more.

KCON:TACT 2020 Fall runs from October 16-25, airing from from South Korean television station Mnet and its television-production studio in Seoul.
