Louisville Officer Shot During Breonna Taylor Protests

Topline

The FBI said Wednesday night that a Louisville police officer has been shot amid protests following a grand jury decision not to charge the officers involved in Breonna Taylor’s death.

Key Facts

“The FBI Louisville SWAT team has responded to an LMPD officer being shot and will continue to assist in the investigation,” the agency tweeted.

The Louisville Metro Police Department told local TV station WAVE 3 News that the shooting occurred downtown at Brook Street and Broadway at about 8:30 p.m.

Protests have already broken out in the city after the grand jury’s decision caused outrage.

No one was charged in the killing of Taylor, though former officer Brett Hankison, who was fired, faces three counts of “wanton endangerment in the first degree” for shooting into a neighboring apartment.

This is a developing story.
