NCT And Tom Petty Chart Top 10 Albums As Taylor Swift Returns To No. 1

The journey that Taylor Swift’s latest album Folklore has been on for the past several frames is truly incredible, and it is one that few titles have experienced before. The set is back at No. 1 on the latest edition of the Billboard 200, vaulting from No. 10 all the way to the peak position. Just two weeks back, the surprise release wasn’t even present inside the highest tier, as it had finally fallen outside the top 10.

The title returns to the summit thanks to a massive surge in sales, as the star offered signed copies of Folklore on her website.

Folklore has now racked up eight non-consecutive turns atop the Billboard 200, and just when it looks like it’s finally done running the show, another quiet frame comes around and Swift takes control once again, so there’s no telling if this is the last or not.

Behind the superstar singer-songwriter, two titles enter the top 10 on the Billboard 200, one for the first time, the other after a long stay away.

After ruling last frame, Pop Smoke’s debut album Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon dips to the runner-up rung. That set lands just ahead of two other hip-hop titles that once led the charge, as Metro Boomin and 21 Savage’s Savage Mode II and Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die settle at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.

Tom Petty is back inside the highest region on the Billboard 200 once again with a special re-release of one of his most beloved albums. Wildflowers and All the Rest (which is charting under the name Wildflowers, the original title) returns at No. 5 on the ranking with 44,000 equivalent units shifted, with most (38,000 copies) of those being actual sales.

Wildflowers and All the Rest is essentially a deluxe edition of the rocker’s 1994 album Wildflowers, which once rose as high as No. 8 on the Billboard 200. The musician originally concepted the title as a lengthy effort, but it was released as a much shorter project. Now, years after his passing, his family has finally given fans the complete tracklist (and then some), and clearly those who adore the star wanted to hear what he came up with over 20 years ago.

Looking at the music he released on his own as well as a member of three groups (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mudcrutch and The Traveling Wilburys), it appears that Petty has now sent 17 different projects into the top 10 on the Billboard 200.

South Korean vocal group NCT debut their new set NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1 at No. 6 on this week’s Billboard 200, giving the band their first placement inside the top 10 on the tally. The title opens as high as it does thanks to 43,000 equivalent units shifted, with 40,000 of those being actual purchases.

A sub-group of NCT, NCT 127, earned their first top 10 album earlier this year, as their release Neo Zone blasted in at No. 5 this past spring.

Down to No. 7 this time around is Lil Baby’s very sturdy former ruler My Turn, which is followed closely by the original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton at No. 8, Machine Gun Kelly’s first champion Tickets to My Downfall at No. 9 and Blackpink’s The Album at No. 10.
