Regina King To Produce Supernatural Drama ‘Slay’ In Development At The CW

The CW is developing Slay, a supernatural drama executive produced by Oscar and Emmy award-winning actress Regina King.

Slay centers on Carson Jones, a bold, witty teenager with afro puffs, leather boots, seventies cool, and – thanks to her mother’s ancient African bloodline – supernatural gifts and the responsibility to use them to protect Virginia’s Historic Triangle (one of the most haunted areas in the country) from the forces of darkness.

Julian Johnson will write and co-executive produce, with Pam Veasey (CSI:NY) supervising and executive producing. Regina and her sister Reina King will executive produce via their production company, Royal Ties. CBS Television Studios will produce.

Slay reunites King and Veasey. Two years ago, King made her pilot directing debut with the ABC drama The Finest, about five African-American sisters who are all officers in the NYPD written by Veasey. Both executive produced the pilot together.

King just won her fourth Emmy in five years for HBO’s Watchmen. She also won an Academy Award for If Beale Street Could Talk for best supporting actress in 2019. King’s feature directorial debut, One Night In Miami is set to be released in select theaters on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2020.

King is repped by ICM Partners, John Carrabino Management, and Del Shaw.Jan
