Schitt’s Creek star Eugene Levy Wins His First Emmy In 37 Years Along With His Son Daniel Levy

Almost 40 years after his last Emmy win, Eugene Levy is once again taking home a trophy along with his son Daniel Levy. During Sunday’s virtual broadcast, the Schitt’s Creek star and co-creator was named Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Levy was also nominated last year for starring as video rental mogul-turned-motel owner Johnny Rose, but Sunday’s Emmy win was his first since 1983 for his writing work on the Canadian sketch series SCTV Network. Levy could go two for two at the 72nd Annual Emmy Awards as Schitt’s Creek is still up for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Schitt’s Creek actor and co-creator Daniel Levy has won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy. During his acceptance speech, Levy shouted out his dad, co-star and fellow Emmy winner Eugene, as well as the other writers on the show for offering up their “traumatizing experiences” for the beloved Pop TV series. After also thanking his fellow nominees, Levy took the time to tip his hat specifically to HBO’s Insecure, created by and starring actress Issa Rae.

The series, which the father-son duo both acted as creators and producers on, was nominated for an impressive 15 Emmy nominations for its sixth and final season.
