Sensex hits new high intraday, nears record 80k – Times of India

Mumbai: The sensex and Nifty hit fresh highs before closing flat due to profit-taking in select banking and telecom shares amid mixed global cues on Tuesday.
The sensex declined 35 points to settle at 79,441 in a volatile trade. During the day, it jumped 380 points to hit a record peak of 79,856. Nifty declined by 18 points to 24,124. Intraday, it climbed 94 points to hit a lifetime high of 24,236.On the sensex, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, and IndusInd Bank were among the laggards.Agencies
