Suarez Reports For Training Unlike Messi, But Refuses To Find Other Club Until Barcelona Exit Sealed

Luis Suarez will not begin negotiating with other clubs until his exit from FC Barcelona has been confirmed, a report claims.

Last Monday, while on vacation with his family in Bermuda, Suarez received a call from new head coach Ronald Koeman who told him that he has become surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou and should seek pastures new.

It is believed that this might have been the final straw for captain Lionel Messi, who on the following evening sent a burofax communicating his desire to end a 20-year relationship with the Catalans that could be headed to the courts.

Back to the Uruguayan, he continues, unlike Messi, to be the model professional and has already reported for coronavirus tests on Sunday at the club’s Joan Gamper CT while also expected to attend training on Monday. His close Argentine friend, on the other hand, has already confirmed to the club he will be a no show and faces disciplinary action.

According to SPORT, several outfits from the around the world are interested in acquiring Suarez and have contacted the player and his environment to make inquiries.

His name has been linked to Juventus in recent days, and David Beckham’s Inter Miami since the turn of the year, but the 33-year-old hopes to reach a “friendly agreement” with his current employer and not leave on bad terms.

Suarez has apparently asked not to exit full stop, and while the transfer window is open until October 5, there is a race against the clock to offload him and Barça must make a big decision soon.

Do they terminate Suarez’s contract now, and allow him to walk on a free?

Or hope that they can talk their third all-time top scorer into finding himself a buyer?

If nothing comes from either of these suggestions, there is still a possibility that Suarez heads into 2020/2021 in Blaugrana under Koeman, despite the Dutchman restricting him to the bench as Antoine Griezmann is afforded a more central role.

Barça may also find the cash for Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan, or one of Koeman’s fancied targets in Memphis Depay, which would see Suarez afforded even less playing time.

But worst-case scenario is that the former Liverpool man features in at least 60% of FCB’s matches next season, and then automatically has his deal extended for another term taking him beyond his 35th birthday and making him more difficult to sell.
