Today’s Wordle #658 Hints, Clues And Answer For Saturday, April 8th

At last, it’s Saturday! The weekend is here and so is the sun. So is warm weather! Spring, it seems, has finally sprung!

I am still in a winter mindset but I’m trying to shake it off. The many days of intense snow and cold have turned me into something of a shut-in, and my natural tendencies to hermit myself off from the rest of the world have been heightened by the frigid season. Hibernation is real. So is seasonal depression. But I can’t be a bad news bear forever.

In fact, I’ve been fairly productive with some home projects. I painted the accent wall in the kitchen a lovely blue. I’ve been eyeing the cabinets, which are in bad need of a refinishing. But that’s such a time-consuming job, I don’t know if I have it in me. Besides, I have the garage to clean and organize. The yard is a disaster after all this snow (but there’s still quite a bit left to melt) and my dogs certainly haven’t helped in that regard.

There is so much to do! But all I want to do is sit around and play video games. Ah well, we can’t always get what we want. But if we try sometimes we might find we get what we need. Oh yeah.

Let’s do this Wordle.

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: I wish you would step back from that _________ my friend.

The Clue: There’s a double letter in this word.

The Answer:

.

.

.

When I went over my guesses in Wordle Bot after solving this, I kept getting the same reply. That’s a strong guess but it was tremendously unlucky today. I thought cameo would be really solid, but I still had 286 remaining possible solutions and just one yellow box. Unlucky indeed.

I figured trike would be a pretty good guess also, but nope. The ‘E’ moved into green but I still had too many possible solutions and no other letters to speak of. It was still possible at this point that the Wordle would have only the vowel ‘E’ in it—geese was almost a guess—but I decided I needed to rule out ‘U’ and bulge did the trick. Sure enough, the final answer would only have ‘E’ in it, and by this point the only thing I could think of was ledge.

Thankfully, that was the answer! Huzzah!

Wordle Bot solved this one in three, however, so that’s -1 point and zero points for guessing in four for a sad grand total of -1. Boo!

Today’s Wordle Etymology (Via ChatGPT)

The word “ledge” comes from the Old English “hlæd” or “hlædges,” which meant “a place to stack or store things.” This evolved into the Middle English word “lodge” or “logge,” which referred to a dwelling or shelter. By the 16th century, the word had taken on the sense of a narrow shelf or projection on a cliff or rock face, and it has retained that meaning to the present day.
