KUSHIDA def. Velveteen Dream and Tommaso Ciampa—Triple Threat Match

Nobody is has more fun during a losing streak than Velveteen Dream. His giant purple cast very well may be the biggest in pro wrestling history.

Velveteen and Tommaso Ciampa is clearly the direction for each of these performers, and that wouldn’t be the worst spot for NXT to end this Velveteen Dream losing streak. Unfortunately, something tells me it’s far from over.

Ember Moon def. Jesi Kamea

Jesi Kamea earned herself a position in the “underrated” category with her performance in this match.

Ember Moon appears to slowly be transitioning into submission wrestler, and there just aren’t enough of those in the women’s division.

This new Ember Moon acts and works like more of a heel every week, but a feud with Dakota Kai suggests otherwise.

Bronson Reed vs. Austin Theory

Nobody shines brighter in defeat than Austin Theory these days. His weekly losses are starting to become one of my favorite segments on Wednesday nights.

Another night where Austin Theory lost twice in one night. I’m dying to know what lesson this passive-aggressive booking of Austin Theory is designed to teach. Will he at least be getting a manager out of this, because the guy can already talk.

Legado Del Fantasma def. Isiah “Swerve” Scott, Ashanti Thee Adonis and Jake Atlas

WWE NXT appears intent on pretending Jake Atlas didn’t get wiped out by Tommaso Ciampa in back to back weeks because he was showcased quite well in this match.

Santos Escobar continued to step up his elite boot game with a clean pair of white fringe boots.

Ashanti Thee Adonis went right back to his losing ways in a surprising result.

Drake Maverick and Killian Dain def. Ever-Rise

Ever-Rise’s one job in NXT has been to get over this odd-couple tag team, and they’re doing that job fantastically.

The strange bedfellow dynamic between Drake Maverick and Killian Dain is slowly transforming into a tough-love dynamic.

Kacy Catanzaro def. Xia Li

Xia Li appears to be on the same trajectory as Austin Theory, except her losing streak has more direction at the moment.

Raquel Gonzalez might actually beat Rhea Ripley at Halloween Havoc based on how strong she’s looked in recent weeks.

Timothy Thatcher’s Thatch as Thatch Can Demonstration

It didn’t take too long before this match started to feel like that one episode of Tough Enough with Hardcore Holly.

The announcers moved on from this otherwise compelling and gripping segment far too quickly for it to get over.

Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch def. Breezango—WWE NXT Tag Team Championship

Given how loaded AEW Dynamite was tonight, and given the tough competition from World Series baseball and election coverage, WWE NXT made a ballsy choice by scrapping its advertised main event due to a mystery person attacking Undisputed Era.

Tonight was a rare night where both AEW and WWE NXT main events were tag team matches.

I was beyond happy to see Pat McAfee return, as ugly as his mask was. This is exactly what a talented-but-bland tag team like Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan need.
