WWE NXT TakeOver WarGames Results: Winners, News And Notes On December 6, 2020

WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2020 will feature both a men’s and women’s WarGames match. The Men’s WarGames match pitted The Undisputed Era against Pat McAfee and The Kings of NXT (Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch and Pete Dunne), while the women’s WarGames featured Team Shotzi (Shotzi Blackheart, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley, and Io Shirai)vs. Team Candice (Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Raquel González, and Toni Storm).

WarGames also features Timothy Thatcher vs. Tommaso Ciampa; Cameron Grimes vs. Dexter Lumis in a Strap Match and Damian Priest, Johnny Gargano and Leon Ruff battling in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE NXT North American Championship.

This week’s WWE NXT garnered 658,000 compared to 913,000 for the AEW television special “Winter is Coming.”

Team Candice def. Team Shotzi—Women’s WarGames Match

The heel was going to have a two-on-one disadvantage, and these foolish heels decided to send in Dakota Kai—one of their smallest competitors—first as opposed to Raquel Gonzalez.

The way the ring was lit made this seem like the match was happening in the florescent lighting aisle of Home Depot

The payoff for Shotzi Blackheart’s new tank is that it shot one ball at Dakota Kai while she was inside of a cage.

In addition to the two-on-one advantage, the babyfaces also introduced weapons into the match.

Dakota Kai was holding her own against two babyfaces like she was Raquel Gonzalez, you know? As if there is no novelty in being a monster.

Even Wade Barrett said “it’s going to take both of them to take Raquel Gonzalez down,” yet the heels couldn’t figure this out for themselves?

The cameramen got so many perfect shots of Raquel Gonzalez and Rhea Ripley facing off against one another.

Ember Moon spent roughly 80% of this match selling.

Tower of Doom spots in WarGames matches are obligatory.

Io Shirai eventually making into the ring was a victory in and of itself.

Io Shirai looked so happy to be diving from the top of the cage while inside a trash can.

The Total Eclipse on the sated chairs looked so brutal.

Tommaso Ciampa def. Timothy Thatcher

Beth Phoenix was deemed the resident neck injury expert in this match just because she’s married to Edge.

Timothy Thatcher became happier the more he bled in this match.

Dexter Lumis def. Cameron Grimes—Strap Match

Dexter Lumis allowed the heel Cameron Grimes to use his own strap, and he’ll only have himself to blame when it turns out to be suspect.

Even in a strap match, this match still incorporated elements of a horror movie, including Dexter Lumis creepily placing his hands on the barricade before fighting his way back into this match.

Though many would like to forget their Blindfold Match, technically, using a bag to blindfold Lumis was good storytelling.

Dexter Lumis really took a beating throughout this match.

Grimes looked like an absolute fool as the strap he insisted on using was a perfectly fine strap with no gimmicks. Even as he tried to escape the strap while trapped in a submission, he was forced to tap out.

Johnny Gargano def. Leon Ruff and Damian Priest—WWE NXT North American Championship

Damian Priest was such a patronizing big brother figure to Leon Ruff in the early goings of this match.

Many points of this match felt like Damian Priest playing with is two favorite toys.

To his credit, Damian Priest did show concern when Leon Ruff was being attacked.

Johnny Gargano has enough Scream-mask goons to have his own WarGames team.

The best part of this match was Austin Theory saying “it was me, Austin!”
