Drama at the Ranch: ‘Yellowstone’ Drops New Teaser for Final Episodes

Dads who watch TV standing up, rejoice: The first teaser for what will likely be the final episodes of Yellowstone have arrived.

The new Season Five teaser is just 30 seconds long and, rather hilariously, opens with an old clip of star Kevin Costner, who’s notably no longer in the show. Nevertheless, Costner’s John Dutton III lays out the looming stakes, musing gravely: “Legacy — you build something worth having, someone’s gonna try and take it.” 

As for who might be taking what, the rest of the clip doesn’t offer too many hints, though perhaps one threat is coming from inside the ranch, as it were. In one of the final moments of the clip, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bently) appears to tell his sister, Beth (Kelly Reilly), “You destroy me, you destroy yourself.”

To which Beth retorts with menacing nonchalance, “Unlike you, I keep my promises.”

The second half of Season Five of Yellowstone will premiere Nov. 10 on Paramount Network, almost exactly two years after the first part of the season premiered. The show has enjoyed massive success since it debuted in 2018, even spawning two prequel series, 1883 and 1923. But the flagship show has gone through some drama in recent years, reportedly centered around scheduling conflicts with Costner, who was eager to focus on directing and starring in his Western film project, Horizon, which finally debuted this year. 

While it was long expected that the Yellowstone would end after Season Five, Puck recently reported that there are talks for a potential Season Six centered around Beth and her husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). 

And even if that doesn’t materialize, there’s still the recently announced sequel series, The Madison, which is set to star Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox. The show has been described as a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”
