‘Simone Biles Rising: Part 2’ Docuseries to Focus on Gymnast’s Stunning Paris Triumph

Netflix will premiere two episodes about the Olympic trials and Biles’ time in Paris in October

The second part of Netflix’s Simone Biles Rising docuseries will follow the most decorated gymnast of all time from her Olympic trials through her jaw-dropping competitions in Paris earlier this month. Episodes three and four of the series will premiere on Oct. 25.

A TikTok-like teaser for the doc shows off Biles’ ironic sense of humor. In one scene, she talks about how life has become chaotic “ever since I moved to Paris” as she sips champagne with the Eifel Tower behind her. In another, she’s standing in front of a wall of hats, shoes, and Chanel-themed art, saying, “Without basic bitches like me, you wouldn’t be fashionable.” She talks about eating crepes and munching other pastries. All of this, of course, ignoring the fact that she was preparing some of the most jaw-dropping athletic routines of the Olympics, earning three gold medals and a silver in the time she was there.

Aside from indulging in all the boulangeries and bubbly the City of Lights has to offer, the second part of Simone Biles Rising promises to begin with the trials, showing her qualification to compete, continuing onward to her arrival in Paris, and the competition itself. It will make for a thrilling conclusion to the documentary following the first two episodes, which chronicled the real chaos she felt after a bad vault prompted her to drop out of the Tokyo Olympics and regain her confidence in Paris. Documentarian Katie Walsh, who helmed the first part of the series, continues to direct the new episodes.

Biles’ history-making triumph was so stunning that Beyoncé made a tribute video to her. “Only a select few know what it feels like to get to the top and stay there and somehow keep getting better,” Beyoncé said. “Simone Biles inspires me, and I’m pretty sure she inspires you, too. Such confidence in her strength, such beauty in her power, such a great lesson in her story. Brilliance, it doesn’t come easy. Gold can be a hell of a journey, and the greatest of all time is willing to put that title on the line every time she walks out there. Take your best shot world. She’s ready for you.”
