The B-52’s Kate Pierson Announces New Solo Album ‘Radios and Rainbows,’ Her First LP in 9 Years

Kate Pierson has announced her new album, Radios and Rainbows, the B-52’s singer’s first LP in nearly a decade.

Ahead of the album’s September 20 release, Pierson has shared the single “Evil Love,” which she calls “a feel-good song about revenge.”

“Sometimes evil love is the only love you need. A not so true tale of obsessive possessiveness and righteous revenge,” Pierson added in a statement. “I started out writing a song with the amazing Bleu McCauley with the idea of a song about forgiveness; but when our creative chemistries collided, the result was a noir thriller of a song set on the coast of Maine. And it’s one hell of a storm – so hang onto your hats for Evil Love!”

Radios and Rainbows marks Pierson’s first solo album since 2015’s Guitars and Microphones. “It’s an eclectic group of songs,” Pierson said of the album, adding that it features “anthems, dance things, a disco song… Overall, the album has an upbeat vibe because I wanted to put out something positive in these dark times. I wanted to make it fun!”

The LP also boasts Pierson’s “Every Day Is Halloween,” a collaboration with Sia that she released in October 2023. Other collaborators on Radios and Rainbows include Chris Braide, Jimmy Harry, Ima Robot’s Tim Andersen, and Adele’s bass player Sam Dixon.

In support of the album, Pierson says she wants to stage a series of stripped-down live shows at intimate venues to “let the emotions and the feelings of the songs come through, showcasing my vocals.”

“My creativity has been unlocked!” Pierson adds. “I still have a lot more songs in me, and I’m already looking forward to recording my next album!”
