Monsta X Continue To Expand 2020 Music Activities With Shownu & Minhyuk’s Duet

So far in 2020, Monsta X has released music in Korean, English and Japanese, with some of its members venturing into solo soundtrack singles and collaboration tracks. Now, the K-pop boy band is expanding their musical reach once again with the release of a new duet from two of its top vocalists.

Monsta X members Shownu and Minhyuk have teamed up for a new duet track that showcases their vocal range in a comforting lullaby. “Have a Goodnight” is a moving, classic R&B song that not only adds a lullaby to the Monsta X 2020 discography database, but lets both singers share their low and high tones throughout the performance. Recorded for the web-based cartoon drama She’s My Type, the two singers not only got their first chance to release their first soundtrack single after their K-pop debut, but the track also marks the first time Monsta X’s leader and the group’s vocalist/rising MC have duetted.

While the MX men have been known to mix and match between each other for different duets or performances (like Minhyuk’s karaoke-ready mixtape track “Ongsimi” with Joohoney or Shownu’s different choreography videos with members like Hyungwon and Joohoney), Shownu and Minhyuk represent an unexpected but cleverly matched duet. There’s a well-thought-out balance between the two voices that even as Minhyuk and Shownu, respectively, take more high and low notes throughout the track there’s still chances for each to show his range like when Minhyuk goes low on the second verse, while Shownu blends falsetto into a big belt on the bridge.
