WWE Twitter Lashes Out At Comedian Tom Segura For Anti-Wrestling Commentary

StanStand-up comedian and podcast host Tom Segura is receiving backlash from wrestling fans for inflammatory comments made about the industry on a recent episode of his Your Mom’s House podcast he hosts alongside his wife—and fellow comedian—Christina Pazsitzky

Taking the anti-wrestling status quo of reminding viewers that the product is fake, Segura did not hold back during an unabashed takedown of pro wrestling and those who consume it:

“I think wrestling is for [expletive]. But so many people like it, it is the [expletive] stupidest [expletive], and I think you’re a [expletive] tool if you’re like ‘hey man, it’s not fake!’ It’s [expletive] fake, and you’re a [expletive] idiot.”

Segura continued:

“The fact that guys are like ‘man did you see The Undertaker’?! It’s pathetic. It’s pathetic. You’re a pathetic person.”

Needless to say, the wrestling world is not taking too kindly to the popular comedian’s remarks. Given pro wrestling’s extreme niche appeal as a simulated competition, a necessary evil of pro wrestling fandom is enduring criticisms from detractors. Wrestling’s passionate, at-times rabid audience is infamous for lashing out at those within the industry, but when “wrestling is fake” commentary comes from outsiders, it tends to particularly strike a nerve.

comedy special Ball Hog became a trending topic in pro wrestling Twitter circles, with his clip now fully viral.

Many stand-up comedians at all levels enjoy pro wrestling, including Tony Hinchcliffe, Ron Funches, Dan Soder, Mike Lawrence and, at a much lower level of stand-up comedy (for now), myself.

The tweets have been fast, furious and figure to only get meaner by the second as long as this is a story.
