Fox News Interview Leads To Clash Between Trump And Anthony Scaramucci: ‘The Loser Is You’

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci was interviewed Sunday by Fox News Channel’s Steve Hilton—and President Trump was watching. “@Scaramucci, who made a fool of himself as he got taken apart by Steve Hilton, only lasted 11 days” in his job at the White House, the president said, adding “Anthony is a loser who begged to come back. I said ‘No Thanks.’”

In the Fox News interview, Scaramucci explained why he supports Democrat Joe Biden over his old boss, citing the president’s inability to turn around the economy, his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, and Trump’s tendency to attack critics—large and small. “He bullies suburban housewives on his Twitter feed,” Scaramucci said. “He is a divider. He divides people. He incenses people,” Scaramucci said. “He is creating hate in our democracy.”

The interview on FNC’s The Next Revolution divided viewers, with the president’s detractors seeing Scaramucci as the winner, while Trump supporters thought Hilton had gotten the better of his guest. Either way, the interview—for a segment airing on cable news on a Sunday night in August—produced a huge amount of conversation in political and media circles, helped in no small part by the president’s angry reaction.

After the president called Scaramucci a “fool” on Twitter, his former communications chief responded: “the loser is you.”
