AEW Dynamite Results: News And Notes After Lance Archer, Cody Advance In TNT Title Tourney

AEW Dynamite featured more tournament action as Cody advanced in a great opening match against Darby Allin, while Lance Archer defeated Dustin Rhodes in the main event. The stage is set for a finals matchup between Archer and Rhodes in a TNT Championship chase rife with backwards booking.

Last week’s broadcast of AEW Dynamite garnered 731,000 viewers, as it lost to WWE NXT in back-to-back weeks. NXT drew 665,000 viewers.

Cody def. Darby Allin—Semifinal Match for the TNT Championship

Brandi and Zelina Vega are in a fierce battle for the Guinness Book of World Records for most wrestlers cornered on a single night.

When you’re as young as Darby Allin, you have the biggest match of your career at least once a month.

Right after Brandi Rhodes took a bump, some heel (probably MJF) yelled out “one down, one to go.”

Chris Jericho on Cody’s accidental collision with Brandi Rhodes: “He’s dealing with a broken knee and now he might have a broken wife!”

I really hope Jericho’s weekly shots at Pineapple Pete lead to a big blowoff comedy match where Pete comes close to beating him.

Cody landed a coffin drop at such a scary angle and Darby Allin immediately followed up with a picture-perfect Coffin Drop of his own as if to say “lemme show you how it’s done young fella.

Wardlow def. Musa

Loincloths are quickly becoming a thing in AEW.

Musa had a rough go of things here.

The Bubbly Bunch, Week 3

Wait, so The Bubbly Bunch is designed to tease the split of the entire Inner Circle?

Of all the star-studded individuals who participated Manitoba Melees, Jungle Boy’s was the best based on commitment to his character, followed closely by Chris Jericho’s dad.

This match was easily the most hardcore match of the coronavirus era.

Tonight marked the first time I ever saw Orange Cassidy run.

Shawn Spears def. Baron Black

Shawn Spears is essentially AEW’s version of Apollo Crews as an overlooked talent on. a tear during COVID-impacted tapings.

Brodie Lee vs. Marko Stunt

Jericho was talking up Marko Stunt as an underdog, saying he’s in AEW for a reason. With monster heels Wardlow, Brodie Lee and now Lance Archer under the fold (and maybe Rusev?)I don’t know if Marko wants to hear the real reason he might be here.

Lance Archer’s entrances are awesome. I hope he never stops assaulting strangers on his way to the ring.

After getting thrown into a barricade, Brandi returned to corner Dustin Rhodes in a new outfit. Now she’s just flexing.

Tony Schiavone as Dustin Rhodes was going for Shattered Dreams: No matter how big you are, everybody’s got a weakness.”

Dustin Rhodes is an all-time great bleeder, right up there with his brother and his dad.

It’ll be very interesting to see what direction AEW goes in next week’s showdown between Lance Archer and Cody, because Cody’s big-match losses are slowly piling up but Archer is starting to get hot.
