FTR def. Best Friends—AEW Tag Team Championship

Best Friends are 17-6 in 2020, they’re the first tag team to rack up 20 career wins and have been No. 1 Contenders for four weeks straight, all points that were brought up to add credibility to them and the AEW bookers.

This crowd sounded like the biggest yet and they were very much behind Best Friends.

FTR refused to take a countout victory, which was valiant from a competitive standpoint, but foolish from a heel standpoint, especially considering they ultimately cheated to retain the titles.

Best Friends’ next feud will be with Miro and Kip Sabian, and it all spawned from an arcade game.

Miro and Kip Sabian def. Lee Johnson and Sean Maluta

“If this were on the streets, this man would be going to jail!” Jim Ross on Miro

The more this commentary teamed talked about video games, the harder it was to take Miro seriously. Other than that, this was a good showing for Miro.

MJF Makes his Groundbreaking Announcement

It was somewhat cruel for The Inner Circle to wear their custom bomber jackets knowing Sammy Guevara did not get one last week. The jacket Sammy did get, however, was several sizes too large.

Though MJF was blowing smoke, he was really accurate in talking about Chris Jericho being fit because Jericho appeared to be sporting a semblance of a six-pack.

According to MJF, both him and Jericho are the biggest minute-to-minute draws on AEW television.

Sammy Guevara maintained a look of disgust at his ill-fitting jacket for this entire segment.

MJF attempted to join The Inner Circle, and the payoff was a steak dinner with Chris Jericho. Sidebar: Super heavyweight contenders Jake Hager and Wardlow continue to have tensions.

Cody and Orange Cassidy Fight to a Draw—AEW TNT Championship

Cody was right back to his bleached hair in this one, hinting toward another possible title loss due to overconfidence.

Darby Allin was watching from the wings as the long-term storyline of his elusive first victory over Cody continues.

Both men had to fight off John Silver at one point, which means the Cody-Brodie Lee feud might be far from over.

Orange Cassidy brought back the low-effort kicks, and it was so refreshing to see the crowd playing along.

Whenever Arn Anderson was brought up on commentary, it was to discuss how upset he was with Cody’s strategy.

Given the fact that Orange Cassidy just suffered a TNT Championship loss amid the biggest push of his career, and Cody just won the title back in his return match, this was the best result possible.

Matt Hardy Gives Medical Update

Reby Hardy made a cameo in this segment, but unfortunately, she didn’t bring her Twitter account.

It certainly was anti-climactic that Sammy Guevara is Matt Hardy’s attacker. It also means these two, who have a very sketchy history together in one-on-one competition, must fight again.

Young Bucks, Private Party, The Dark Order, Butcher and The Blade win Tag Team Lottery

This segment reminded me of WCW’s famed Lethal Lottery, except with actual tag teams.

The build between The Young Bucks and FTR, years in the making, appears to finally be culminating at Full Gear as The Young Bucks will compete against Private Party, The Dark Order and The Butcher and The Blade to become No. 1 Contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championships.

Hikaru Shida def. Big Swole—AEW Women’s World Championship

I’m sure former WW women’s champion Jazz was watching this match intently after her recent comments about black women in pro wrestling.

During the picture-in-picture, Big Swole took an ugly-looking suplex bump over the guardrail. Unfortunately, Swole went on to lose her footing while on the top rope.

Nyla Rose looks like she is being set up as the next challenger, and assuming she’s still flanked by Vickie Guerrero, I hope she wins.

Jon Moxley def. Lance Archer—AEW World Championship

Lance Archer got the plate-glass treatment for his entrance, much like Stone Cold Steve Austin, which made me think he might win this match.

Not a big enough deal was made of the fact that Lance Archer kicked out of the Paradigm Shift less than 10 seconds into the match.

Eddie Kingston continues to refere to Pentagon Jr. as his best friend and Rey Fenix as “Fenix.” Keep in mind that the two brothers are set to do battle in the first round of the AEW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament.

Eddie Kingston was so great on commentary in this one.

This felt like AEW Jon Moxley in a CZW Match.
