‘The Diablo II’ Remaster Looks Diabolically Delicious In New BlizzCon Trailer

Of the things Blizzard has shown off during its 2021 BlizzCon aka BlizzConline, perhaps the most impressive is the first gameplay trailer for the Diablo II remaster, Diablo II: Resurrected.

It’s kind of crazy to think about how long its been since the original came out. I actually started playing this series with the original Diablo which launched in 1997. Diablo II was released shortly after in 2000. That’s nearly 21 years ago.

Diablo II came out 12 years before the launch of Diablo III and it’s looking like we’ll have another 12 (or more) year gap between it and Diablo IV which still baffles me. Diablo is truly the Game of Thrones of video games, and Blizzard the George R.R. Martin.

Sometimes I think Blizzard has no interest in money; other times . . . well. Let’s just hope that Diablo II: Resurrected isn’t another Warcraft III: Reforged.

In any case, here’s the Diablo II: Resurrected trailer which looks terrific. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this one. I was 19 when the original came out, and I’ll be 40 (or nearly 40) when the remaster blasts onto my PC in 4K / 60fps.

The game will feature cross-progression, meaning you can play on PC and then continue with the same character on console, but you’ll need to purchase separate copies on each platform, much like Call Of Duty. Unlike Activision’s shooter franchise, Diablo II won’t have cross-play, at least not right away, which is a huge shame as I was really looking forward to playing this with friends who are all on different platforms. C’est la vie.

On a brighter note, it will contain all the DLC including the Lord of Destruction, so there will be plenty of game to explore, monsters to smash and loot to unearth.
