AEW Fyter Fest featured an entertaining showcase of matches as Cody, Hikaru Shida and the team of Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page all retained. It was also announced that Jon Moxley’s AEW world title match against Brian Cage, previously scheduled for July 8, has been rescheduled to July 15 amid COVID-19 concerns for Moxley.

Wednesday’s broadcast of AEW Dynamite garnered its lowest total viewership to date, with just 633,000 viewers compared to 786,000 for WWE NXT.

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus def. MJF and Wardlow

I don’t care what anybody says, MJF’s entrance gear proves he is yeas beyond his age in understanding the entire psychology of pissing people off.

MJF’s unbeaten record continues to be protected, but the bad news is it came at the expense of a rising star in Wardlow. Hopefully this won’t become a trend.

Hikaru Shida def. Penelope Ford—AEW Women’s World Championship

Hikaru Shida should be very pleased when she watches this match back, until she realizes that the announcers spent this whole match putting over Penelope Ford.

I could tell by how effusive the announce team was with its praise for Penelope Ford that she wasn’t going over, but in my eyes, she should have.

Cody def. Jake Hager—AEW TNT Championship

Cody wore as shirt that was stylized like the vintage “Great American Bash” logo, and I look forward to how creative he gets in denying this was a shot at NXT.

Judging by the tale of the tape for this match, AEW has introduced the “foul” statistic to pro wrestling. Cody had seven, Jake Hager almost has 30.

Cody is the king of the wacky pinfall.

What does Jake Hager’s wife, Catalina, have to do to officially be enshrined as the sixth member of The Inner Circle?

Hager celebrated even as AEW played Cody’s music, which wasn’t his finest hour.

Proud and Powerful vs. Private Party

I can’t emphasize how much better Private Party’s news song is than its old song, but its new song is tailor made for a live crowds and it’s awkward to hear their song with nobody chanting “shots!”

This awesome tag team match, and division, makes me think that AEW should consider a secondary tag team title.

This match’s subplot saw Orange Cassidy do next to nothing as Jericho

Jon Moxley vs. Brian Cage Rescheduled to Fight for the Fallen

Taz leveled up as a heel by criticizing Jon Moxley for staying home and quarantining instead of facing Brian Cage.

This feud could benefit from an extra week to build it up, especially when it comes to Brian Cage, who just got here.

Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page vs. Private Party—AEW World Tag Team Championship

The Best Friends were driven to the ring in a minivan by Trent’s mother, which was a simply adorable display.

As the Best Friends went for their patented hug, Jim Ross said “what [the people] want are new tag team champions. Not a damn hug!” What a party pooper.

In a subtle sign of a split, Hangman Adam Page referred to the AEW World Tag Team Championships as his titles. He proceeded to score yet another winning pinfall. Maybe that wasn’t a tease at all. Maybe he was just telling the truth.
