As BTS almost claim yet another No. 1 hit, at least half a dozen tracks debut on the World Digital Song Sales chart, with some acts earning another big win while others appear on the tally for the first time in their careers, starting off what could be a longstanding winning streak.
Here are five tracks whose moves are worth noting on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart.
No. 2 – BTS – “Inner Child”
Out of seemingly nowhere, BTS’s album cut “Inner Child,” featured on their latest Korean full-length Map of the Soul: 7, doesn’t just return to the World Digital Song Sales chart, it nearly conquers the ranking. The track reappears at No. 2, almost becoming yet another leader from the project for the band, who already claim the most champions of all time.
Before this frame, “Inner Child” had previously peaked at No. 6 on the World Digital Song Sales chart.
No. 7 – Blackpink – “Lovesick Girls”
Last week, as their new release The Album (their first full-length) opened at No. 1 on the World Albums chart (and No. 2 on the Billboard 200), the latest focus track from the set immediately became the latest ruler on the World Digital Song Sales ranking for the biggest girl group on the planet right now. In its second stay on the tally, “Lovesick Girls” dips from first to seventh, a noticeable fall, though the cut is still present inside the highest tier.
No. 8 – Refund Sisters – “Don’t Touch Me”
Brand new K-pop group Refund Sisters, a supergroup of sorts (as the four members have all enjoyed success on their own and in other bands as well) start things off right by launching their debut single “Don’t Touch Me” at No. 8 on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart. The cut is obviously the first top 10 hit for the newly-formed act, but it probably won’t be the last.
Impressively, one of the members, Jessi, also debuts another cut under that moniker on the World Digital Song Sales chart this week. Dawn’s “Dawndididawn,” which credits Jessi as a featured act, begins its time on the tally at No. 13.
No. 11 – NCT – “Make A Wish (Birthday Song)”
The many members of NCT have reached Billboard’s world charts with several subgroups (NCT 127 is the most prominent of the bunch), and now the main act has placed on the World Digital Song Sales list as well. The band, which now credits more than 20 performers as members, launches the new single “Make A Wish (Birthday Song)” at No. 11, narrowly missing out on landing a top 10 smash.
The full-length featuring “Make A Wish (Birthday Song),” titled NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1, blasts onto the World Albums ranking at No. 6.
No. 16 – Babymetal – “BxMxC”
Japanese rock band Babymetal released their most recent album Metal Galaxy last fall, and over a year later, fans are still in love with the project. This frame, a single from the title, “BxMxC,” debuts on the World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 16, giving the group their tenth career placement on the tally.
