Blackpink, TWICE, Stray Kids, TXT And BTS: Essential Moves On This Week’s World Songs Chart

There always seems to be a flurry of new additions to the World Digital Song Sales chart every week, but this time around, all the movement worthy of discussing is either of cuts that have already appeared on the tally rising or falling, or of those hits that have come and gone finding a way to return to the 25-rung ranking, as nothing new debuts in the second chart of 2021.

Here are five tracks whose moves are worth noting on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart.

No. 1 – BTS – “Stay”

Once again, BTS fans have pushed an older cut to the top of the World Digital Song Sales chart, which has become a nearly commonplace sight for the band, but which remains very rare for anyone else. The group’s song “Stay,” featured on their latest full-length BE, shoots from No. 16 all the way to the highest rung on the tally in one enormous leap.

“Stay” is BTS’s milestone twenty-fifth No. 1 hit on the World Digital Song Sales chart, and with another win, they further their lead among all acts who have topped the ranking.

No. 11 – TWICE – “Cry For Me”

Last week, South Korean girl group TWICE returned to No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart with their latest single “Cry For Me.” The tune gave the band their fourth leader, but now, just one frame later, it looks like the track might not hold on for very long.

In its second turn on the World Digital Song Sales chart, “Cry For Me” falls outside the top 10 entirely, dipping from No. 1 to No. 11.

No. 15 – Blackpink – “Kill This Love”

Blackpink is having a very good week on the World Digital Song Sales chart, despite the fact that they don’t have anything new on the tally. As their recent smash single “How You Like That” returns to the top 10, stepping up from No. 15 to No. 7, three of the group’s hits reappear on the list after not being present on the roster at all last time around.

Back at No. 15 is “Kill This Love,” which is closely followed by “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” at No. 16. Just two spots below those wins at No. 18 is “Lovesick Girls.”

No. 22 – Tomorrow X Together – “Blue Hour”

Speaking of returning to the World Digital Song Sales chart, South Korean all-male vocal band Tomorrow X Together, usually referred to simply as TXT, see their recent release “Blue Hour” make its way back to the multi-genre ranking. The cut, which once peaked at No. 5 and which has only spent about a month anywhere on the tally, settles at No. 22 this turn.

No. 25 – Stray Kids – “Back Door”

Like TXT and Blackpink ahead of them, K-pop favorites Stray Kids see their recent single “Back Door” return to the World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 25, narrowly sneaking back on to the roster. The cut barely missed out on becoming a No. 1 for the band, as it stalled in the runner-up rung before falling down the list fairly quickly.
