BTS Claim The Most Titles On The Sales Chart This Week—Twice As Many As The Beatles Or Queen

Not only does BTS always manage some sort of presence on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart—the ranking that only takes into account pure purchases, as opposed to the Billboard 200, where streams and individual track sale equivalent units play a big role in where titles place—they usually rank among the most successful acts on the list. It’s not odd to see the South Korean septet claim two or three rungs at once, which is typically the most spaces any artist snags.

This time around, however, the K-pop favorites’ domination is more complete than usual, and their name appears in half a dozen rungs on this week’s Top Album Sales chart. The surge in sales is thanks in large part to their recent online-only concert Bang Bang Con: The Live, as well as the social chatter surrounding the staging.

Three BTS albums rise from where they landed on last week’s Top Album Sales chart, while another three return to the tally after departing the list.

Up first is Map of the Soul: 7, the group’s latest release. The set is back inside the top five once more, advancing just two rungs to No. 4. Not too far behind that title comes a much older effort, Love Yourself: Answer, which gains the most ground. This week, it lifts from No. 74 to No. 18, a huge movement for a set that’s already been out for years. The third BTS project that was present last time around is Map of the Soul: Persona, which settles just behind Love Yourself: Answer at No. 19. One frame ago, it was down at No. 54.

The highest-ranking of the returning titles is Love Yourself: Tear, which reappears at No. 50. Less than 10 spots down is Love Yourself: Her, which lands at No. 59. Closer to the bottom of the ranking comes BTS World, at No. 88.

To put BTS’s success this week on the Top Album Sales chart into perspective, two artists nab three rungs on the roster apiece, tying for the second-most placements at once. Both The Beatles and Queen have a trio of collections present on the tally, which means BTS outperforms either of them twice over, or the two combined.
