BTS Is The First Act To Chart Three Of The Top 10 Hits In The World Simultaneously

Back in September, Billboard finally unveiled its long-awaited and long-rumored new chart, the Billboard Global 200, which uses sales and streaming data from many different platforms in well over 100 countries and territories the world over to present a comprehensive list of the most-consumed songs on the planet every week.

This frame, one act manages an incredible show of popularity that no other band or solo musician has managed yet. Even though the chart may be very new, it’s still worth noting that this latest accomplishment by one of the biggest names in the industry is very impressive.

BTS currently occupy three spots inside the top 10 on the latest edition of the Billboard Global 200, which is something no musician has managed to do yet. The South Korean superstars earn their third No. 1 (also a first) as “Life Goes On” opens atop the all-genre ranking. The cut was a strong seller everywhere, and it also racked up a healthy stream count, and all those plays and purchases helped it become just the sixth-ever leader on the tally.

Just two spots down on the ranking comes “Dynamite,” a former champion. The tune was the second track to control the Billboard Global 200, and it is currently tied for the most spins at No. 1 on the still-new roster, as it lived at the top for three nonconsecutive turns (it’s on the same level as Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP”).

Down at No. 9 this frame is “Blue & Grey,” an album track featured on BTS’s new full-length BE. While “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On” have both been promoted as proper singles, “Blue & Grey” has not enjoyed that honor (at least not yet), and thus its performance is that much more remarkable.

BTS was already included in a group of five names which stood out as the only acts to chart more than one top 10 hit on the Billboard Global 200 simultaneously, but now they’ve advanced beyond everyone else and made history in doing so. On three different occasions, Justin Bieber claimed two spots inside the highest tier, though always with another musician in tow.

Ariana Grande, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin have also landed a pair of simultaneous top 10 wins on the Billboard Global 200 during one frame apiece, as did BTS just a few weeks back.
