Another week, another show of dominance on Billboard’s World Albums chart by one of the biggest musical exports to ever emerge from South Korea. This frame, BTS control half of the spots on the ranking, and while that’s not exactly a new feat for the septet, it is still impressive for any musical act on any roster.
Leading the way yet again is the band’s most recent Korean-language effort Map of the Soul: 7, which is bound to wrap 2020 as not just the most successful title on the World Albums ranking, but one of the most popular full-lengths of any kind on any Billboard tally. That release has now managed to spend 23 turns atop the chart, only failing to run the show for seven frames.
BTS control the highest two spots this week, as their previous chart-topper Love Yourself: Answer, perhaps their most successful release yet, rises to the runner-up rung. Just a few positions down comes Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey, the septet’s very recent Japanese-language album. That set dips to fifth place, giving them ownership over three of the top five spaces.
BTS actually dominate the top 10 on this week’s World Albums chart, as two other beloved collections—Map of the Soul: Persona and Love Yourself: Tear—settle in at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.
Back on the World Albums chart in last place this week is Wings, an older launch from the South Korean superstars, one which helped catapult them to international stardom. The project periodically finds its way back to the list, and by appearing on the roster once more, it helps the group control half of all the available positions this turn.
