BTS’s Albums Surge On The Billboard Charts In Advance Of Their Online Concert Event

The current Billboard charts only reflect streaming and sales activity from April 10 through April 16, during which time fans of the Korean septet BTS were busy preparing for Bang Bang Con, a much-talked-about online festival featuring a handful of free videos from past concerts. 50 million people tuned into the event, and before they did, they bought and streamed plenty of songs and albums from the group, and now they’ve gained a lot of ground on a number of rankings.

Billboard 200

On the Billboard 200, the most important albums ranking in the U.S., BTS charts two titles once again, with one advancing and another returning to the tally. Up from No. 37 to No. 28 is the band’s most recent release Map of the Soul: 7, which looked like it was ready to depart the top 40, though now it seems like it will hold on for a few more frames. Close to the bottom of the list, Love Yourself: Answer re-enters the race at No. 174.

Top Album Sales

BTS occupies two spots on the 200-rung Billboard 200 and three positions on the 100-slot Top Album Sales chart, showing they can still sell a title better than many of their contemporaries. After falling outside the top 10 last week for the first time since it was released, Map of the Soul: 7 is back inside the highest tier. This time around, the most recent release from the septet jumps from No. 12 to No. 4.

Further down the tally, Map of the Soul: Persona climbs from No. 86 to No. 59, while Love Yourself: Answer reappears on the list at No. 77.

World Albums

The Korean vocal group is enjoying a solid week on both the Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales charts, but it’s on the World Albums ranking where they really shine. This frame, the band occupies six of the 15 available spots, including half of the top 10.

Map of the Soul: 7 and Love Yourself: Answer are steady at Nos. 1 and 2, where they landed last week. Just two rungs down, You Never Walk Alone lifts to No. 4 while Map of the Soul: Persona also improves to No. 5. Closing out the uppermost arena is Love Yourself: Tear, which pushes from No. 14 to No. 10, earning another stay inside the loftiest region.

Down by the bottom of the short list comes last year’s BTS World, which re-enters the World Albums chart at No. 14.
