BTS’s ‘Dynamite’ Is The Bestselling U.S. Song Download Of 2020

BTS’s “Dynamite” dips to No. 2 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, ceding the throne to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” after ruling for two consecutive frames. Yet despite retreating from the top of the Hot 100, “Dynamite” remains a sales juggernaut—and it is now the bestselling song download of 2020 in the United States.

“Dynamite” rules the Digital Song Sales chart for a third consecutive week with 136,000 downloads, Billboard reports. That’s the third-biggest sales week of 2020 behind—you guessed it—the song’s first and second sales weeks, during which it sold 265,000 downloads and 182,000 downloads, respectively.

“Dynamite” has now logged 583,000 U.S. downloads through its first three weeks. It’s the only song to sell over 500,000 downloads in the U.S. in 2020, and it’s the first song to sell over 100,000 downloads in each of its first three weeks since Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” in 2016.

The robust third-week sales for “Dynamite” are a testament to BTS’s ever-growing popularity and passionate fans, many of whom have repeatedly downloaded the song in large quantities over the last three weeks. The song’s stellar hold on the Hot 100 is especially impressive in a year when many No. 1 singles tumble down the chart after making a strong debut. But BTS fans are fond of outdoing themselves, and they’ve already committed to doubling down on their streams and downloads of “Dynamite” this week, causing #DYNAMITEREPEAK to trend at the time of this writing.

“Dynamite” isn’t just crushing it in downloads, either. The infectious disco-pop smash gives BTS their first entry on the the U.S. Radio Songs chart, debuting at No. 49 with 18.3 million impressions, a 14% boost over last week. With continued strong sales and a growing radio presence, it’s clear that “Dynamite” fever won’t be going away anytime soon.
