BTS’s ‘Map Of The World: Persona’ Has Now Spent A Full Year On The World Albums Chart

BTS is currently still focused on promoting their new album Map of the Soul: 7, which was released just over a month ago and which dominated a number of Billboard charts with one of the most impressive first-week sums in recent memory…but that doesn’t mean that fans aren’t still interested in the group’s older material.

In fact, as is typically the case every week, the band occupies several spots on Billboard’s World Albums chart, which ranks the bestselling foreign-language (non-Spanish) releases in the U.S., but that’s nothing new for the group. What is special about this frame is the milestone one of their recent titles reaches, one which remains elusive for almost all acts who make it to that tally.

BTS’s 2019 album Map of the Soul: Persona is currently charting at No. 6 on the World Albums ranking in its fifty-second frame on the list. The group’s recent champion has now spent an entire year on the tally, and while it isn’t their first to do so, it’s still rare for any album to live on the roster for that length of time.

Map of the Soul: Persona blasted onto the ranking last spring at No. 1 and ended up spending well over a dozen frames atop the list, stepping up and down several times as other collections took their turn running the show.

BTS remains the only Korean act to keep a full-length on the World Albums chart for at least a year, and they have now managed that feat on several occasions. In addition to Map of the Soul: Persona, their previous efforts Love Yourself: Tear, Love Yourself: Her and Love Yourself: Answer have all hit that important mark, as have earlier releases You Never Walk Alone and Face Yourself.

Next up for the group when it comes to projects reaching a year on the World Albums chart could be Wings, which has now needs fewer than 10 more turns somewhere on the 15-spot list to make it to the milestone, though it only returns to the ranking occasionally, and seeing as it is now four years old, it may never hit 52 frames on the tally.
