‘Call Of Duty’ 2020 Teased In Mysterious Projector Images, But Still No Reveal

Last week, Activision sent Call Of Duty blog, CharlieIntel, a mysterious package.

The package was locked and included instructions not to open until August 10th at 12pm ET. At that time, a text message with the combination to the lock would be sent to the blog.

I—and many others—hoped, perhaps unrealistically, that the package would contain the big Call Of Duty 2020 announcement.

That time has come and gone, and CharlieIntel opened the package and discovered a vintage slide projector:

It appears that different projectors, presumably containing different slides, were sent out to various content creators:

The package also included a confidential envelope with a letter inside:

As you can see, the letter has many redacted bits. It reads:

These are TOP SECRET documents containing compartmentalized information essential to national security.

You are requested to immediately distribute the provided intelligence to your operatives in the field. These materials are to be used in the investigation of Site [REDACTED] in the Ural Mountains.

[Redacted].

Please ensure that your package contains the documents listed in the marked MANIFEST.

You will also be supplied a PROJECTOR to aid in distributing materials.

Authorized by: [Redacted].

Included in the package were these ten slides:

Alas, according to CharlieIntel, the slides are simply what appear to be more teasers for the upcoming Call Of Duty game rather than a reveal. Since this is a slide projector, there is no video either.

The slides appear to show some maps and some cryptic coordinates. It appears to be some sort of puzzle, and if other content creators received different slides it may take some real coordination to figure it out.

Here are the next six slides:

This comes just a couple days after gamers began discovering mysterious teasers in Warzone.

In the above clip the words “Know Your History” show up as the screen glitches out. Then Russian words appear which apparently translate to “Doomed to repeat it.” This hints at Black Ops returning to a historical, or at least semi-historical, setting and backs the Black Ops Cold War title.

What do you make of all this? Any ideas what these slides could mean? I’ll update this post as more information comes to light. For now, it appears we have to wait—or get in on the sleuthing—before we’ll see a Call Of Duty 2020 announcement. Perhaps these slides will lead gamers to something inside the Warzone map, and that something will lead to the big reveal.

Whatever the case, I have to admit that this is a whole lot more interesting and fun than simply getting a new trailer at Sony’s latest PS5 showcase. Hopefully all the time and effort and anticipation pay off.

Then again, at this point Activision may be dragging the reveal out a bit too long. There’s a risk that people will get bored or irritated with more and more teasers and no sign of actual gameplay in sight. Hopefully they don’t drag this out too much longer.
