‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’ And ‘Warzone’ Season 6 Quietly Extended

The final season of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare before Black Ops: Cold War’s first season kicks off just got an extra lease on life.

Season 6 will now end on December 7th at 11PM PST, with Season 1 of Cold War kicking off 48 hours later on December 9th at 11PM PST. Originally, Season 6 was supposed to end yesterday, November 23rd.

Rather than announce the extension, it was discovered by players and shared via social media.

The extra two weeks gives players more time to level up their Season 6 Battle Pass and unlock the Tier 100 rewards, including the new Operator Nikolai.

It’s a bit confusing, since the free-to-play Warzone battle royale exists across both games. Basically, Warzone’s seventh season will be a reset to Season 1 alongside Black Ops Cold War. Think of it like Chapter 2 of Fortnite.

Progression across all three games will be linked. So playing in Modern Warfare will still help you level up the new Warzone/Black Ops Cold War Season 1 Battle Pass. You can play any of the three games to progress, but you can only use your Operators and loadouts in Warzone and the base game they come from. So you can go into a Warzone match with a Modern Warfare loadout and end up in a firefight with a squad rocking Cold War loadouts. Looting enemies will allow you to mix-and-match.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how it all plays out, especially since Warzone plays like Modern Warfare—as in, nothing at all like Black Ops Cold War.

So far, the latter game is a bit thin on content, with only a handful of normal MP maps, a trio of large-scale Combined Arms maps and two Fireteam maps. That should improve with Season 1 when new maps and Gunfight mode are introduced.

And later today you’ll be able to play the classic Nuketown map in its Nuketown ‘84 variant. Read more about that here.

This isn’t the end of new content for Modern Warfare, thankfully, even if it is the final Season and Battle Pass (which is a shame). According to Infinity Ward devs there will be new content down the road. They’re just not able to say precisely what just yet.

Now the only question is: Will Treyarch ever fix its terrible Black Ops split-screen?
