KEY FACTS
The “very good news” is that New York continues to see a decline in the number of coronavirus hospitalizations, intubations and deaths, Cuomo said.
While New York has passed its apex, “happy days are not here again,” Cuomo warned, pointing to the fact that some 2,000 new cases are still being reported each day, which is around the same level that it was at in late March.
Another 540 New Yorkers died from the virus since Friday: Cuomo called that number “sobering” and “tragic,” though it was also the lowest daily death toll so far this week.
