Doja Cat Scores Her First Top 10 Hit While The Weeknd Reaches No. 1 With ‘Blinding Lights’

As his album After Hours opens at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the largest one-week sum of 2020, The Weeknd’s current single “Blinding Lights” lifts to the top spot on the Hot 100 for the first time as well. The track, which steps up from No. 2 to the throne, is the singer-songwriter’s fifth leader on the all-encompassing songs chart in the U.S.

After 11 consecutive weeks in charge of the Hot 100, Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” finally backtracks, descending to No. 2 for the first time in months. The cut is still performing well, especially on streaming sites, so it’s possible that its time in the spotlight isn’t over quite yet.

Dua Lipa’s biggest hit yet, “Don’t Start Now,” keeps at No. 3 this time around. The song once climbed as high as No. 2, but it looks like it will have to settle for that high point.

As each of the songs featured on The Weeknd’s After Hours racked up millions of streams (possibly even tens of millions) in the past tracking frame, one previous cut returns to the top 10 thanks to the surge in activity. Lead single “Heartless” rockets up the ranking, landing at No. 4, a height it hasn’t experienced in some time. “Heartless” led the Hot 100 last year for one frame when the musician first began promoting his latest set.

While Post Malone’s “Circles” is a non-mover at No. 5, Future and Drake’s longtime runner-up “Life Is Good” dips outside the top five for the first time in months, sliding to No. 6. Behind the high-profile rapping pair, two tracks remain exactly where they were last frame, with Harry Styles’ “Adore You” standing at No. 7 and Justin Bieber and Quavo’s “Intentions” making a home at No. 8.

Singer and rapper Doja Cat (real name Amalaratna Dlamini) appears inside the top 10 on the Hot 100 for the first time in her career with her breakout tune “Say So,” which lifts from No. 14 to No. 9. The song has been slowly working its way up the chart, and she makes it to the top tier with her third placement on the all-genre list. “Say So” serves as the latest single from her sophomore album Hot Pink, which was released last November and which has risen as high as No. 17.

Arizona Zervas’ “Roxanne,” which has proved to be a shockingly sturdy hit from an unknown musician, looks like it might finally depart the top 10 soon, as the tune falls to No. 10.
