Drake Charts Two Top Five Hits As His New Single ‘Toosie Slide’ Debuts At No. 1

Drake makes history on the Hot 100 this week as his new single “Toosie Slide” debuts at No. 1 on the all-encompassing chart. The tune, which is assumed to be the first, or one of the first tastes of his forthcoming album, though he hasn’t confirmed that just yet.

“Toosie Slide” is Drake’s seventh No. 1 on the Hot 100 and one of fewer than 40 songs to debut in the highest rung. The track is the only new entrant inside the top 10 this time around, and it’s lofty entrance pushes almost every other cut inside the region down, starting with the most recent champion.

After two weeks in charge of the Hot 100, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” has been replaced on the chart’s throne by the unstoppable “Toosie Slide.” The track, The Weeknd’s fifth leader on the list, only steps down to No. 2, and depending on how Drake’s latest performs in the coming frames, it could potentially climb back into the driver’s seat.

Roddy Ricch’s 11-week former ruler “The Box” seems like its shot at returning to the spotlight is certainly through as it falls to No. 3 this time around. The tune comes in right ahead of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now,” which likewise slips just one spot.

The only song inside the top 10 that doesn’t either debut or fall due to that debut is Future and Drake’s “Life Is Good,” which holds at No. 5. The collaborative single gives the latter musician ownership over two of the top five spots in the country, a relatively uncommon accomplishment, but one that the Canadian artist has managed before.

Last week, Post Malone’s “Circles” tied the record for the second-most weeks spent inside the top five, and it looks like it may have to settle for second-best, as it tumbles outside the area. The former chart-topper is down to No. 6 this week, its thirty-second inside the top 10.

Rounding out the top 10 this week are Harry Styles’ “Adore You” at No. 7, Doja Cat’s “Say So” at No. 8, Justin Bieber and Quavo’s “Intentions” at No. 9 and Billie Eilish’s “Everything I Wanted” at No. 10.
