Drake Debuts ‘Toosie Slide’ At No. 2 In The U.K. As Dua Lipa Claims Three Top 10 Hits Again

For the past tracking period, it was unclear whether Drake or The Weeknd would end up on top of the U.K. singles chart this frame, but now a winner has been declared, and it’s the same name that appeared at No. 1 last time around.

The Weeknd holds onto the throne on the U.K. singles chart once again with his international smash “Blinding Lights,” which beats out a brand new competitor. The R&B/pop giant has now led the charge in the country for seven nonconsecutive turns broken down into three separate stints.

Drake’s new single “Toosie Slide” debuts at No. 2 on the U.K. ranking, giving the hip-hop star yet another top 10 hit. The Canadian musician has now landed inside the top 10 across the pond at least 19 times and twice this year. It’s not clear if “Toosie Slide,” which immediately went viral thanks to a must-see music video (that gives an inside tour of the musician’s home) as well as a TikTok dance challenge, serves as the lead single from a new Drake album, but it probably does kick off the next era of his career.

The incoming success from one of the biggest names in hip-hop pushes former chart-topper “Roses” by Saint Jhn down to third place, and it sets off a chain reaction that sees five tracks in a row fall from last frame.

Behind “Roses” come Dua Lipa’s “Physical,” “Don’t Start Now” and “Break My Heart,” which currently rank at Nos. 4, 5 and 7, respectively. This is the second week in a row that the pop star owns a trio of spots inside the top 10 in the U.K., where she is perhaps most popular. In between her successful tunes, Joel Corry’s “Sorry” also slides back from its No. 5 standing to No. 6.

New to the top 10 in the U.K. is “Death Bed,” the breakout track from rising talents Powfu and Beabadoobee. The cut has come out of seemingly nowhere to become a surprise hit on streaming platforms and in a number of territories around the world, and it seems to be just getting started.

Closing out the loftiest tier in the country this time around are Doja Cat’s “Say So” at No. 9 and Mabel’s new top 10 “Boyfriend” in last place.
